Marvel Rivals Heroes Tier List 2026: Every Hero Ranked Across Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist

You hopped into Quick Match excited to try the new hero, watched your team instalock four Duelists, and then got rolled by an enemy team running an actual composition. That's Marvel Rivals in 2026 in a nutshell. NetEase is dropping new heroes every season, the meta shifts with every patch, and the Comp queue from Bronze through Diamond looks completely different from the high-Diamond-and-up game.

I've been climbing through ranked across multiple seasons and the current tier list reflects what's actually winning at every rank. Forget the streamer takes that overrate the hero they main — this list is built on actual win rates, pick rates, and what teams running coordinated comps are picking.

The State of Marvel Rivals in 2026

The biggest shift over the past few seasons: Strategists matter more than ever. With faster TTK across the roster, healing throughput and utility separate winning teams from losing ones. A coordinated Strategist duo (Luna + Mantis, Cloak & Dagger + Adam Warlock) wins more games than a stacked Duelist lineup with a single overworked support.

Vanguards have stratified hard. Magneto and Doctor Strange anchor the meta thanks to massive shielding and disruption potential, while traditional brawler tanks like Hulk and Thor work but require team coordination. Venom and Captain America provide flex tank options that punish poorly-positioned enemy teams.

Duelists are where the most variance exists. Hela, Hawkeye, Black Panther, and Psylocke dominate at every rank when played well, but the reality of solo queue is that any decent Duelist player can carry on Iron Fist, Squirrel Girl, or Spider-Man if their team plays around them.

Team-Up bonuses (the synergy mechanic where certain hero pairings unlock buffs) shape comp choices significantly. Hela + Loki, Magneto + Scarlet Witch, Hulk + Iron Man, and Cloak & Dagger + Moon Knight team-ups push otherwise B-tier heroes into A-tier when paired correctly.

Here's how I'm ranking: Diamond+ ranked solo queue context, assuming reasonable team comps and average individual mechanical skill. Coordinated stack performance can shift specific picks but the core meta holds.

S Tier: Meta Definers

These heroes either dominate solo queue, anchor coordinated team comps, or both. If you want to climb, picking from this tier is the path of least resistance.

Hela is the strongest Duelist in the game. Long-range pressure, incredible Ultimate, low skill floor, high skill ceiling. Her Team-Up with Loki/Thor pushes her over the top. Pick her every game you queue for Duelist if you can.

Hawkeye has the highest skill ceiling Duelist payoff. A good Hawkeye one-shots squishies from across the map and absolutely demolishes Strategists. He's harder to play than Hela but rewards practice massively.

Doctor Strange is the best general-purpose Vanguard. Big shield, displacement Ultimate, sustain through portals. He fits any team comp and his win rate at every rank reflects that.

Magneto is the shield-tank that synergizes with Scarlet Witch. His personal damage absorption, plus the team-shield ability, plus a kit that punishes diving make him an anchor pick.

Luna Snow is the strongest single Strategist in the game. Healing, damage, AOE Ultimate that wins teamfights — Luna does it all. Pick her in any team without a Mantis/Cloak duo.

Mantis is the universal damage-amp Strategist. Her allied damage boost is the strongest single ability for any Duelist team and her own damage punishes flankers who think she's defenseless.

The Thing is one of the strongest Vanguards available. His displacement plus self-sustain plus team buffs make him an absolute monster, and his kit punishes positioning errors hard.

A Tier: Strong, Reliable Picks

These heroes carry games when played at a moderate level. They're slightly behind S tier but viable in nearly any team comp.

Black Panther is the highest-mobility Duelist and a solo-queue carry's dream. He requires real mechanical skill to flow combos but the payoff is enormous.

Psylocke is the assassin Duelist who punishes poor enemy positioning. Her Ultimate combined with stealth is brutal in coordinated play.

Punisher is the simple-but-effective Duelist. Massive damage output, low skill floor, can carry Quick Match games. He gets dove on by good teams but on most ranks he's strong.

Iron Man is the flying Duelist who can be either incredible or totally useless. With a Hulk Team-Up he becomes one of the best in the game.

Scarlet Witch is the area-denial Duelist that pairs with Magneto. Her chaos magic chip damage and Ultimate punish stacked enemies.

Hulk is a reliable Vanguard that anchors brawl comps and unlocks the Iron Man Team-Up. Good win rate at every rank.

Captain America is the displacement Vanguard who excels at peeling and disruption. He's a great anti-dive option.

Venom is the dive Vanguard who punishes weak Strategists hard. Pair with a Spider-Man for extreme dive pressure.

Adam Warlock is the Strategist with revives. His resurrection Ultimate completely changes teamfight outcomes when timed right.

Cloak & Dagger are dual-character Strategists who flex between damage and healing. Strong in any composition.

Loki is the deception Strategist with massive utility — clones, ult-stealing, displacement. Skill-dependent but A-tier when played well.

B Tier: Solid Picks with Conditions

These heroes work but want specific compositions or above-average mechanical execution.

Spider-Man is the highest-skill-ceiling Duelist. Mediocre players feed; great players carry.

Star-Lord is a fine Duelist with good range, just slightly outclassed by Hela.

Winter Soldier is the flank Duelist who shines on certain maps and dies on others.

Wolverine is a melee bruiser Duelist who got buffed last season but still struggles into ranged comps.

Storm is a flying Duelist with team buffs that work in coordinated play but struggles in solo queue.

Magik is a melee Duelist with high mobility but capped damage potential.

Moon Knight is the area-denial Duelist with punishing Ultimate but slow damage in pubs.

Thor is the brawler Vanguard who needs his Hela/Loki Team-Ups to truly shine.

Groot is the wall-spawning Vanguard who's strong on certain maps and weak on others.

Peni Parker is the trap-spawning Vanguard who controls space well but lacks dive presence.

Emma Frost is a newer Vanguard with strong displacement and CC potential, climbing in viability.

Mister Fantastic is the flexible Vanguard / Duelist hybrid with potential but requires team coordination.

Rocket Raccoon is a movement Strategist with good utility but lower healing throughput than Luna or Mantis.

Invisible Woman is the new Strategist with shielding utility, viable in coordinated play.

Sue Storm is functionally the same as Invisible Woman in this list — same hero, two name listings — and she's solid.

C Tier: Niche Use

Squirrel Girl has fun area-control but struggles into competent enemy teams.

Iron Fist is the meme dive Duelist that wins Bronze and Silver lobbies but falls off in higher ranks.

Namor is a turret-summoner Duelist who has potential but feels stationary.

Black Widow is the sniper Duelist who only works in the right hands and the right map.

Jeff the Land Shark is a fun Strategist whose Ultimate either wins a fight or accidentally throws it.

D Tier: Outdated or Outclassed

Phoenix has a flashy kit but underwhelming overall output. She'll likely get buffed in future patches.

These heroes aren't griefing your team — Marvel Rivals is forgiving compared to other hero shooters — but in coordinated competitive play they're a tier behind the meta picks.

F2P-Friendly Best Picks

Marvel Rivals has zero pay-to-win mechanics. Every hero is unlockable through normal play and the Battle Pass is generous. That said, these heroes provide the most value for new players:

  • Punisher — easiest Duelist with high carry potential
  • Hela — premium Duelist that everyone should learn
  • Doctor Strange — most flexible Vanguard
  • Luna Snow — strongest Strategist in the game
  • Mantis — universally useful Strategist
  • Captain America — strong Vanguard with simple kit

A team running Doctor Strange / Captain America / Luna Snow / Mantis / Hela / Hawkeye is probably the most reliable winning composition in the game right now and uses six heroes that anyone can pick up quickly.
